Who Am I?

My name is Janneke Parrish. I'm an activist, a founder of AppleTogether, and author of “The Tech Worker's Guide to Unions.” I was born in Pennsylvania. My mother immigrated to the United States from the Netherlands, brought there by the beauty and unlimited potential that the US offered. My father is American, and from him, I learned all about US history, politics, and the importance of speaking up in the face of injustice. I grew up understanding that we are the arbiters of our own destiny, and that if we want to see change in the world, we must forge it for ourselves. It's a lesson I've held on to, and which continues to guide the work I do.

I believe in the power of the people, and the idea that all of us, working in tandem, can change the world. I continue to push for justice and representation, not only in labor, but in all walks of life. Each of us deserves a voice in our future and in our work, whether it be when changing the course of the tech industry, or rebelling against the effects of climate change.
